Painting time: ~30hrs.
The base is a resin forest base from Micro Art Studios. The bestigor was entered in the Australian Golden Demons in Fantasy single mini. It made top 7 but did not place.
The metallics were painted in a similar method to NMM. I started with a GW boltgun metal basecoat, then did a few layers of selective glazing with a juice of GW scorched brown, black, water and Pébéo matte medium. The idea was to shade the dark areas carefully, where the you don't want the light to reflect off, then highlight with GW chainmail, and mithril silver. I did skip an important step though. At the time, Sebastian suggested to wipe on a few thin glazes of watered down boltgun metal in the dark areas, after I had done the shading, but before rehighlighting. I did not think much of it at the time and skipped this step due to time running out. When I started doing the rust with dark and lighter reddish browns in those areas, all the darker brown colours were soaked up by the already existing darkness, thus leaving the rust areas looking just as the 1 bright colour without variation in browns. This is most noticeable on the axe. Oh well, next time I won't skip that step now that I see how it plays a part.
The skin was done to have a similar look as Sebastian's Mk II death guard's mutated arm. Light pale green with a mauve nuance in certain places only. Although the hint of mauve is too strong as Sebastian pointed out and should be more subdued. I used VMC sky green as the base colour. Some areas were shaded GW scaly green, others VGC yellow olive. I found the sky green very tricky to use as it is sort of bright and highlights are hard to see.
