This was my first Rackham miniature, and I obstinately stuck to metallics for the armour - I had yet to turn to the dark side of NMM! I painted the majority of this miniature in some painting sessions I had with Weisern at Dogcon, a Warhammer tournament - neither Weisern nor I were gaming, we just sat in the corner with our paints and brushes while all the games went on around us! It was a good chance to catch up with Weisern though, and study each other's painting technique in real-life - we live far apart, and rarely get to meet face-to-face.

I used a similar technique for the metallics as that which I used on the berserk mutant; starting with a base coat of mithril silver, then gradually shading with successive glazes of extremely thin paint starting at a light yellowish brown and moving darker through orange and reddish-brown to almost black in the deepest recesses - probably around 25 thin coats of paint in all.
