Winter Beastman

This mini was for another funny challenge between my friends Kyle, Steve and I - we decided to each convert and paint a GW plastic beastman (although Kyle cheated and used a metal one haha). The idea was to have something not-so-serious for some experiments: we wanted to try some interesting flesh tones, and also to practice creating environments with the bases.

I decided to try for a cold, winter environment, because I wanted to use some different colours to my usual: cold pinks, purples, blues etc.. For the flesh, I tried to reflect the cold environment and create a strange lighting effect by using a pale, icy-blue colour as the lightest highlight colour in many areas. Also, I used a turquoise oxidation colour for the metal, rather than the usual orange rust, again to fit better with the cold scheme.

The snow on the base was created with 'jo sonja's texture paste'; it's a common brand of artists paints and products, and the texture paste is very easy to use. It dries semi-transclucent, and has a slightly crystalline appearance. But if you want to try it, make sure you get the white textuire paste - it comes in other colours as well, black and so on.
